How to brighten up a dark office naturally?

- Project: brighten up a dark office naturally
- Type of building : Offices on the inner courtyard of a building
- City : Brussels (Belgium)
- Openings: Windows
- Rooms : Office
- Espaciel model installed : Wall-mounted reflector
In autumn and winter, the low-ceilinged
offices of the Permanent Representation of France to the EU in Brussels are sorely lacking in natural light due to their position and orientation. Pierre-Alexandre, head of the trade policy department, therefore looked for solutions to improve the lighting in his offices, as part of the βGreen Embassyβ project aimed at improving the energy efficiency and comfort of working spaces.
Espaciel proposed using Light Reflectors to increase the natural light flow in these dark offices. These reflectors allow natural light to be directed and amplified, regardless of weather conditions. Pierre-Alexandre opted for wall-mounted reflectors installed on the office openings, as the window reflectors were not adapted to the configuration of the windows, which were too wide for the extendable models.
The installation, which took less than two hours, was quick and unobtrusive, allowing employees to get back to work without any major interruptions. Thanks to the addition of the Wall Reflectors, the luminosity in the offices rose from 73 lux to 161 lux, measured with a Luxmeter. This significant increase in natural light has improved employee well-being and reduced dependence on artificial lighting.
The results of the test will be evaluated over the course of the year to determine the long-term impact and consider the installation of Reflectors in other offices in the Commercial Policy department from 2020.
