Introducing an innovative solution for improving natural lighting in traditional stone houses in the Auvergne mountains, which are often dark because of their thick walls and small windows. Nicole and Steve, owners of an old farmhouse in the Parc des Volcans d'Auvergne, found it difficult to light their house despite renovations that included roof windows and mansards.
Mountain houses, with their stone walls around a metre thick and narrow windows, limit the entry of natural light. So Nicole and Steve set out to find a solution to this problem. After consulting the Espaciel website, they tested the Espaciel Intelligent Motorised Reflector. This device consists of a garden reflector, a two-axis motor and a solar sensor. It is designed to direct the sun's rays towards the windows, keeping the light stable despite the changing position of the sun.
Installing the Intelligent Motorised Reflector has considerably improved the brightness in Nicole and Steve's living room. By directing the sun's rays towards the ceiling, the device spreads the light more evenly, increasing ambient brightness. Before installing this system, Nicole and Steve were forced to turn on the lights even on a sunny day, a problem now solved thanks to this innovative technology.
