Renovated house in Brussels with Espaciel Reflectors boosting natural light.
A Brussels house transformed with Espaciel Reflectors, gaining +50% natural light.
Renovating a house in Brussels: Maximizing natural light with Espaciel Reflectors When my partner and I moved to Brussels, we chose to renovate a 1912 Neo-Flemish townhouse located in the densely built Saint-Gilles district. Bringing in natural light guided every step of this ambitious project.

Optimizing light on every floor The house, oriented East-West, benefits from sunlight all day long: morning on the street side and afternoon on the garden side. However, to fully take advantage of this dual exposure, we had to completely rethink the interior layout. Initially divided, the house was opened at every level to create a natural flow of light, from the living room to the kitchen, for example.

The renovation also added two more floors, making the house 7 levels and 26 meters high. To allow light to reach the ground floor, we strategically drilled holes in the floors, replaced some with laminated glass, and created stairwell shafts. This three-dimensional design optimized light distribution throughout the house.

The Espaciel Reflector: a boost for brightness Despite these improvements, the heritage constraints on the façade prevented us from enlarging the windows to increase light intake. That's when I developed and integrated the Espaciel Light Reflector. This innovative device increases natural light by 50% without altering the structure of the building. Installed on windows and French doors, the Reflector, made from ultra-reflective composite material, is 30% more efficient than a classic mirror. Lightweight, unbreakable, and easy to install, its surface boosts light entering the house, even on cloudy days.

A bright house all year round Thanks to these arrangements and the Espaciel Reflectors, every floor now enjoys pleasant natural lighting. The combination of architecture designed for light and these innovative devices has transformed a typical Brussels house into a bright and welcoming space, ideal for living or working.
